Propulsion

Designates a structural unit that moves a machine by means of energy conversion. In many cases, this is a motor with a possibly necessary gearbox. There are rotary drives and linear drives. The devices for the propulsion of a machine often use several different working principles, with coupled carriers. In the conversion principle, for instance, a distinction is made between motor-drive, hydraulic-drive or pneumatic propulsion.

A crash test system drive usually consists of a propulsion unit and one or more cable tensioning units. A separate cable tensioning unit is required for each tension cable that is to be driven.
