Passive Safety

Passive safety refers to all the actions that are intended to reduce or prevent the risk of injury in the event of an accident. This includes tools like seat belts, braking systems and airbags, as well as child seats and head restraints. An equally important aspect of the passive vehicle safety is the vehicle’s crumple zone. This is the area of the vehicle that largely absorbs the forces through the body in the event of an accident. The analysis and optimization of passive safety is therefore a task that carmakers are continuously tackling.
